Choice of Equipment
For back-garden play the selection of equipment is not as critical as for club or tournament play. For the latter, the equipment must reach the specifications set down in the Laws of Croquet. The principal difference is that the weight and size of the balls and the dimensions of hoops are tightly specified. Garden sets generally have lightweight balls and big hoops!

Robert Fenwick Elliott in Australia produces "high-tech" mallets which have the head mass concentrated at the faces and use specially formed carbon fibre shafts and heads.
