The Class Factor is set as follows:
class factor = 6 for the Opens, Mens, Internationals
class factor = 5 most tournaments
class factor = 4 consolation events
Alpha, used in the smoothing of the grade, is given by:
alpha = ( (Old Grade-1000) / 10000 ) + 0.8
with limits of 0.9 and 0.97 imposed if the above calculation yields larger or smaller numbers. Sample values; 2500: alpha = 0.95, 2000: alpha = 0.9, 1900: alpha = 0.9.
Grade is calculated by:
New Grade = (Old Grade * alpha ) + (New Index * (1 - alpha))
